Got a new job but nothing to wear! help!

I recently got a new job which I'm so happy about, it's my first proper 'grown up' job since graduating from uni, the problem is I'm working in an office and I haven't got a clue what to wear.
I know generally a shirt or blouse and black trousers is a pretty safe bet, but I'm quite busty and am finding it impossible to find shirts that fit me properly, and similarly I've found that the black trousers in a lot of shops are a bit tight around the !!!!
I want to look smart but I want to look nice too, and I'm really struggling to find flattering work wear. Most of the people in my office are men and the few women are all much older than me, I've been trying to pick up on what they wear for ideas but it's not really helping! None of my friends work in offices so I don't really have anyone to ask.
I've currently got one decent pair of black trousers which I've been wearing with a plain t-shirt and a black cardigan, but the overall effect looks quite scruffy and drab, and I don't have enough clothes to get me through the week. I just don't know what to wear
Advice is desperately needed!

I find it hard to find blouses and shirts that fit me too, I'm usually a size 12, but wish there was such a thing as size 13, a 14 is too big and makes me look ridiculous being so short, and often a 12 just a bit too tight for comfot. I get around it by wearing a blouse with a long sleeved t-shirt or a coloured vest depending on the weather underneath and leaving top couple of buttons undone. You can also buy thin kinitwear v necks and wear along with a contrasting t-shirt. I have big hips so buy the black trousers to fit the hips and then take in the waist and shorten them. I often wear a nice matching scarf for a little bit of individuality and a pair of black ankle boots with a small heel there you have comfortable wear without costing a bomb.No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0

Trousers from Wallis always used to be a generous cut around the hips.
Worth a dedicated trouser shopping trip as there is so much variation between brands. It always feels and looks better to get the perfect fit!0 -
I've got a couple of white work shirts from Asda and they fit surprisingly well - I'll admit I'm not particularly busty but they are failry generously cut. They're not too dear either so it might be worth a look. Sainsbury's TU range is good too, for tops and smartish skirts.0

I'm very overweight (size 16) and started working in an office last week so can relate! I got some smart work skirts from m&s and next are really good for smart work tops that aren't blouses. I got a nice purple and grey striped skirt from asda for £8 with a matching jacket for £14 and wore a plain black sweater underneath, I also got a suit dress with matching jacket and a plain black suit jacket from primark for £25 for the lot so its not broken the bank either.
If you find trousers too tight I'd reccomend skirts, I dont wear trousers because of my weight and find skirts a lot more flattering.0 -
Hi, I always struggled because the office I work in is freezing in winter. I got a selection of v-necked or polo necked jumpers in bright colours then long sleeved t-shirts to go underneath. These can be jazzed up with scarves or cheap jewellry and you can still wear a jacket over the top if you need to look that bit smarter. I have even picked up these jumpers in charity shops for nothing much.
I would work on the basis of a couple of well fitting black trousers or skirts then lots of different tops to mix around. None of this needs to be expensive - I have a black pinstripe Tesco skirt suit that gets me loads of compliments, its machine washable too.
Look on ebay too if money is tight, you can pick up some great jackets and work stuff on there if you drop lucky. I have a fab bright red jacket that I got on ebay that makes me feel really good.0 -
It's not particularly cheap but Bravissimo/Pepperberry do clothes for women with larger busts.0

Skirts/dresses with long boots always look good. Also they don't crease as much if you are sitting down all day.
Don't worry about wearing the same thing week in, week out as office staff are not fashion freaks!
You are better off paying a bit more for better quality trousers for work as cheap ones crease quickly. M&S and Debenhams have sales on at the moment so check them out for decent trousers.
Cardigans are great for wearing over summer tops in the winter.

I used to have the same issue with the tops
but i solved it by buying ones from Next which are like a tank top but with sleeves & collars like blouses. Since they're acrylic jumpers, they stretch & are easy to wash.;) Autism Mum Survival Kit: Duct tape, Polyfilla, WD40, Batteries (lots of),various chargers, vats of coffee, bacon & wine.

Dorothy Perkins do 3/4 length scoop neck tops in numerous colours.
Here they are
New Look do some well fitting trousers at a decent price. A pencil skirt would also be good office wear.
Team this with a couple of cardi's and you should be good to go.
