Help! Favourite dress ruined by pen ink!

I spotted some black marks on my favourite (pale coloured!) dress the other day, couldn't imagine how they'd got there and simply put it in the machine for a normal wash at 40.
The marks are still there - one has faded slightly - and it's now clear to me that they were pen ink!
Given that I've already washed my dress, is it ruined? Have I 'set' the ink forever?
If anyone has any ideas on how to save my beautiful dress, I would be really grateful - OS or otherwise! Unfortunately, due to where the mark is, I can't embroider over it, I need to get rid of the stain or get rid of the dress
I don't think dying is an option because it has a different coloured trim and also I'm too much of a scaredycat to put dye in my washing machine in case I ruin that too!
TIA for any suggestions...

You could try spraying it with hair spray before washing it again. That has never let me down for both biro and felt tip over the years.knitted so far 2011 24 Baby Hats 11 Bunting 24 Emergency squares 1 Angels Pocket 1 Baby Blanket 19 IS Hats 1 Sands blanket 12 Mrs Twins squares 2012 24 Baby Hats 6 Angels Pocket 7 Baby Blankets 14 Baby Buntings 2 Body Warmers 1 Baby Jacket0

Thank you for the suggestion - it's not something I would have thought to try. I don't actually own any hair spray, so will pop out later and buy some - are there any 'rules' about what type to buy or will any kind work? I don't want to make the stain any worse!
Thanks so much for posting - I really do love this dress and I'm panicking ever so slightly!0 -

The pen marks are still there, only I now have a hairspray mark too.
Any other ideas?
ETA: Actually, the pen marks are now coming off when I scrub at them, so the hairspray must have done the trick. Am going to try washing the dress again, fingers crossed. x0 -
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
