Looking for discount on Car hire in Canada

Does anyone know of any discount codes for 7 seater car hire in Canada. ie Hertz etc. xx

  • We used Alamo when we went to Canada last year. I assume they must be one of the cheapest - they certainly had the largest queue at the Vancouver airport (with just two rather rude customer service clerks!!) Check also that the car rental company will be open when your plane lands - we had one of the last flights of the day into Vancouver and judging by the customer service at the Alamo counter, I'm quite sure they would have shut on time, if not earlier. We also found that as we had hired a 7 seater (as opposed to our small car in the UK) that petrol wasn't that much cheaper. Enjoy your trip, it's a wonderful country.
  • HI THERE,

where in Canada r u going?
If u look on the Enterprise website for Canada, they usually offer deals if u join up, and they often have discount for the next hire, sya if u going to a different province. Good luck & enjoy Canada it's a great country, oh and people r real friendly and helpful

Hi, we went to Toronto last year and hired through yes car rental.co.uk (or something similar). They are agents for alamo but are uk based so you pay in pounds etc and they send you the rental voucher through the post as well as by e-mail. CDW etc is all included by law in canada so apparently they may try to sell you some sort of personal injury insurance that is covered by your travel policy so don't fall for this one. Also, they usually have 7 days for five offers but these are not always clear on the websites so experiment with the length of your rental period. The other thing is that with fuel (and alamo - don't know about the others), you get a full tank when you collect the car and have to pay for it - you are then told to bring the car back empty - a nice little earner for them if it comes back half full!! - We were upgraded to a mid size (3 litre V6!) because we booked a small one and I don't think they have any over there, so I just put my foot down and burned the last quarter of a tank in the 30 miles back to the rental depot!.
Canada is a lovely place with lovely people and a contrast to rip off Britain - or maybe its just the strength of the pound - everything seemed about a third cheaper or less - eg coffee and cakes in a coffee shop would be about £3.50 for 4 people.
  • You can go through Quidco for £8 cashback when you hire a car with Hertz. Not much but every bit helps! :D

  • Don't forget to check as well if the car hire company charges for hire per day, per mile or penalises you if you drive over x amount of miles. Also, if like us you are starting at one airport and aim to fly home from another part of Canada, check that you can leave the car at the other end ..... some companies don't let you (Alamo do). Oh, and check the car thoroughly before you drive off in it at the airport, taking photos of any marks as the car hire companies will check the car thoroughly before giving you a release document when you return it.
  • Oh, and this may sound really silly, find out if the car takes petrol or diesel and which type of petrol (I think they give it different names over there) - we had to ask an old lady at the petrol station for advice!

We take pics of the car as well as use our video camera (most times we have it when we rent a car anyways) we have never had to pay anything though but it's great to do it "just in case!" :D
