If the APR on your American Express is 27% and you are only paying £50 a month you are not clearing the monthly interest payments (27% of £3k = £810/year = £67.50 per month). Take £3k of your cash savings and pay this debt off as a priority and leave £250 in the emergency fund.

That will reduce your debts by £3k and your monthly balance will be £50 better off. Reduce your food bill by £50-100 per month and you might need to scrap the childcare - you simply can't afford it.

I'm confused about the workign side of things a bit; on one post you say you enjoy your job and on anohter you say you hate it and are bored, or have I misread?

The other thing about your PGCSE is how easy would it be to get employment in your rural area in your specialism? In my experience it's not easy in the big cities, as has been explained, let alone the rural bits. I reallty think you need to review this choice by a year or so, you may not want to but it does seem a bit of a stretch.

You can't always have yuor cake and eat it I'm afraid.

    Good luck!
