Job change after mortgage offer

Hi,
I never thought I will be asking this after the Mortgage Tornado I had gone through. But I have just had a very[STRIKE][/STRIKE] good job offer that I am considering.
Here is brief story - Mrs and I applied for joint mortgage with Halifax under shared equity scheme. Got accepted on 10th working day. We are due exchanging contract next Tuesday/Thursday and completion by hopefully in first few days of November.
Now, if I were to accept new job offer, I will be serving 4 weeks notice in my current employer and will hopefully join the new company by 7th November 2011.
Question is, could this create a problem at the time of exchange or completion? Is it my duty to inform Halifax if I intend to change job now?
Please advise,
Thanks,
R

In short yes. You are supposed to tell them of any impending change in your circumstances. If you hand in your notice and they do an employment check after exchange but before completion, your employer will have to tell them you are working your notice. That won't look good and you may lose your offer.
If you can hang on until after completing I would keep quiet.0
