M & S Carrots Fiasco Makes my DSs Blood Boil

M&S are doing an offer for £5 which is a pie or salmon en croute, mash and a veg (carrots) The Belfast one has sold out of carrots but had loads of mash and pies. I asked could you take another item ie carrots at exactly same price and was told no. This was asked of manager yesterday when the same thing happened and no alternatives could be got. I resigned myself to getting the pie and mash and just missing out on the veg. You know it, no veg means not £5. I was told it would cost an extra 98p without the carrots. So I pay more for less food because of their poor stock control. The girl was nice that I spoke to but the fact that she kept telling me it happens constantly just made me more annoyed as obviously they don't learn to order more veg. Added to that when I pointed out there was no manager about to speak to, I was told at teatime, no cos they are on a break at this time. So I left with nothing. Came home and told my son at length how annoyed I was. He managed to keep a straight face during the telling but at the end said, yes mum, M&S and their carrots really make my blood boil and we both burst out laughing. Don't get me started! I went in on Tuesday (last day of the Dine for £10 offer). I wanted to get the Prawn Risotto but the only packs left were dated for that day and already reduced. (£1.99 off I think so still better value as part of the £10 offer). I would have been using it that night so the short-date didn't bother me. I wasn't looking for any further reduction to the Dine for £10 offer. However, the till wouldn't recognise the offer because the risotto was reduced and tried to charge £16.XX! Needless to say, I left the whole lot. Hope they didn't manage to sell the risotto - serves them right.
