Hi all! Need your help! It's Dh and I's 5 yr 'getting together' anniversary on saturday and if the baby hasn't poppy we want to go out and do something, just the 2 of us (plus the passenger lol.) but as we're on a tight budget I thought I'd get some opinions as am really stuck for what to do!

Will put up a poll of what ideas I have so far but please feel free to add any others! (Baring in mind I've huuuuugely pregnant lol.)

Pretend you've got a really special surprise evening out planned, then just as you're about to go out, tell him you think the baby's coming (oh dear, you'll have to stay in and have a warm bath!)......then say you can't tell him what the 'surprise' was going to be as you will save it for next year!

He thinks you've put a lot of thought and effort in, you don't have to spend anything, the contractions turn out to be just a false alarm....bingo, anniversary problem solved! :rotfl:

    lol... love it.
Only problem being after being on maternity leave from 29 weeks because of my SPD I'm so sick of being in the house and staring at the same 4 walls... any excuse to get out is welcomed... even going and standing in a field counting blades of grass seems appealing at the moment! (Don't worry you'll find out soon enough. LOL.)

Is it comfortable for you to be in the car? One of the nicest anniversaries hubby and I ever had was when we were too skint to do anything at all really - we drove out to a local beauty spot and ate fish and chips in the car, just chatting, listening to music on the almost defunct car music system (can't call it a stereo as only one speaker worked!) and watching the world go by.......ok, it sounds cheesy, but I just remember how happy I felt.

    That's a lovely idea.

How about a picnic if the weather is not too bad - take some of those tealight candles with you (usually about £1 for a million) to set the mood!

    I second this.

Just remember that fish & chips always tastes best by the sea. :D

Yea but we're about a million miles away from the sea in not-so-sunny staffordshire! Could always park up by the river severn I suppose but I doubt it'd be very romantic! lol

Hi it is also our 5 year 'day we got together' anni on Friday (day earlier than you!) and I am having same problem.
Was thinking of cooking low budget meal and setting table romantically and it can be fun choosing a special dinner on a budget...but done this before on valentines etc. Also we stay in every night anyway as we are skint (got married 6 months ago)and we tend to light loads of candles generally in the evening so won't be much different! Like the idea of fish and chips as live by the sea..but weather is appalling here...and even worse on the seafront!!! So picnic will be out of the question!!!! Maybe a picnic in the lounge??? Or just good old fish n chips in front of the box! hahaha!
Also have to say I am not heavily pregnant and I am sure you certainly wont want to be cooking a special dinner...should be other way around!!!
Have a lovely time whatever you choose...and will be watching this to see if I can sneak some ideas

Candles and a take out seem like a good idea but instead of watching a DVD, get your husband to give you a nice, romantic, relaxing massage with some lovely, relaxing oil - it worked for me when I had SPD - head to toe - I know there isn't much in it for your hubby but he will (i'm sure) get great pleasure out of seeing you relaxed and if you can manage it (lol) then get a bath together - not sure that will work though!

Oh, !!!!!! it - I just don't know what to suggest, I'm useless - just enjoy whatever you decide to do - hope it goes ok!!!! And good luck with the impending baby, hope all goes well - you never know the little darling might decide to arrive before then (if due) and then you won't have to worry about it.

A baby - born yet or not - is the best way to celebrate!!!
