Hi
Sometimes I am not sure if I have entered a competition as some look similar to others. If they are a one entry only and I enter twice does it mean that both of my entries are disqualified of does it only accept the first entyr?
Hope someone can help
Thanks in advance

It depends on the promoter. Some will accept your first entry and delete any further ones - others will delete them all. There's no way of telling which will happen unless it says it in the rules, which it hardly ever does, so it's worth keeping some sort of record of what you have entered. I don't, but a lot of people have a "Comps entered" favourites folder and save the pages of comps they have entered into it, so they can check to see if one is already there.
Most of them will delete all your entries if you make loads of entries from the same IP address, even if they are done in different names and use different email addresses. That means those of us using NTL broadband will regularly get disqualified from comps we haven't entered before (that's why some sites tell you that you have already entered when you haven't, if you're on ntl)How sweet it is to do nothing..... and then rest afterwards.0 -
I was thinking about keeping a page, but enter far too many comps - just another thing to remember. And also thank everyone for posting - its only polite to do so as well.0

I read a post from someone before who clicked the "thanks" button in each comp they entered. They could then check if they had already entered it or not if there was a thanks from them. Thought this was a good idea.0

i do that too imeehan67 thank everyone then you can see if you have entered it
and plus your thanking the person for posting a comp to help you with a chance to win too of course

I always thank everyone anyway, out of politeness, so it's certainly worth doing.
The thanks system works well but does rely on memory and also the seach function to find ones you think you recognise. That's why I also thank people who post a link to a previously posted comp because they're stopping you from potentially entering twice and being disqualified.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0 -
Yep that was me. I thank when I enter the comp then I can see what ones I've entered. But as I usually enter all the comps I end up thanking them all anyway.lmeehan67 wrote:I read a post from someone before who clicked the "thanks" button in each comp they entered. I do this and mentioned it in a post a few days ago. The only downside is that our search engine isn't great, so you can't always find the original post to check.0 -
I do use the thanks button on this time just because I am grateful people take the time to post, it was other sites I have a trouble remembering and sometimes I will enter on another site and then see a similar comp here and not know if I have entered on the other site or what I have done.
As you can see I am not the most organised comper and my memory is useless, anything to do with robot wars, Bob the builder or anything else my boys like and I am an expert
