Christmas cake recipes for person with cholostomy.

Options
Hi, my father has just had a cholostomy and is therefore unable to eat nuts or any fruit with skin or pips. Does anyone know of a Christmas cake recipe which does not include any of the above?

Not a recipe so much as an idea - how about a chocolate chip panettone? It's a little bit drier than British Christmas cake, but makes a brilliant substitute for Christmas pud too, especially with brandy sauce over it!

I don't think there would be much of a problem with a Christmas cake - the dried fruit shouldn't be a problem and if you used ground nuts instead of chopped you would still get the flavour without the jagged edges.

When I came out of hospital I had loads of advice about what not to eat - have to say that after a very short time I started eating totally normaly (just peeled the apples) I had a family to feed and couldn't afford to be precious about it, so tell your Dad it isn't as bad as it sounds. In seven years I've not had any problems.

Thanks for your answers. I was really wondering how to get around the Christmas cake and pudding problem. I will have to have a think about the recipies suggested as my mother has dementia and is very funny about the food she eats, she will like something one day and then hate it the next:mad:. Still, as long as I can get dad organised that will be a weight off my mind.
