Please excuse my ignorance but are working tax credits only payable to those with children?
eg If a married couple with no children have a low income would there be any type of help available?
many thanks

There will be some help depending on your household income level and hours worked.

I have friends who are both working, married,no kids and they get tax credits, it's only a few ££'s a month but they went for it as getting tax credits means they get free prescriptions. And the DH has a blood disorder which meant regular prescriptions, and was costing a small fortune. All happy now though since they realised they would be as well to apply for it even for such a minimal amount.0

I used to get about £15 a month before I had my baby. I earned about £12,000 and worked full time. Not much, but better than a smack in the face!0
