Dear MSE NI members
CLIC Sargent Sportsman’s Lunch – hosted by CLIC Sargent Patron Barry Mc Guigan
I am delighted to invite you to join CLIC Sargent at the Europa Hotel, Belfast for our first ever Sportsman’s Lunch, with guest speaker Barry McGuigan. Mr McGuigan is best known as a professional boxer. In 1978 he won a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games – he then went on to win the British Featherweight title in 1983, when he was also European Champion, and in 1985 he became the WBA Featherweight World Champion. In 2005, Barry was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Barry and Sandra McGuigan became involved as Patrons of CLIC Sargent after their daughter Danika had been diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 11.
In partnership with Used Cars NI CLIC Sargent is hosting the Sportsman’s Lunch to raise funds to support children with cancer - and their families - through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. CLIC Sargent offers a lifeline for local families, providing a specialist nurse and social worker’s at Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and Belfast City Hospital and Cancer Centre, as well as financial assistance. I am also delighted to announce CLIC Sargent’s commitment to raising £4 million over the next two years to fund two Homes from Home for children and young people with cancer and their families.
The CLIC Sargent Sportsman’s Lunch makes its debut on Friday 18th November with guest arriving at 12 noon, and will feature a drinks reception on arrival and hot buffet lunch, with speeches by Barry McGuigan as the highlight of the day. There will also be a silent auction featuring some incredible prizes! The day will conclude with a raffle before guests leave at 15.00hrs.
We are lucky to have Used Cars NI as reception sponsor, and we also have the support of a dedicated committee. The committee would be delighted to have the support of you and/or your company, either as a sponsor of the event or as a table host. I hope you will be able to attend and help us to keep providing our vital services to children with cancer.
With your support we can help make a difference to the lives of children or young people living with cancer in Northern Ireland, and their families. To reserve seats or a table for 10, please download a booking form here www.clicsargent.org.uk/Getinvolved/Fundraisingandevents/Findanevent/SportmansLunch
and send to the address on the form. Please bear in mind spaces are limited so I would encourage you to get your form in early. If you have any questions, please contact the CLIC Sargent team directly on 02890 725 780.
I hope to see you all there
Best wishes,

From the forum rules
However worthy the cause, unfortunately we can't allow posts asking other site users to sponsor them or to give money to a particular charity other than on the Charities Board. Even on there posts must obey the following rules:- Any links must benefit a UK registered charity. The charity number and link to the website must be given.
- Any sponsorship links must go via the legitimate online charity sponsorship sources such as Justgiving etc. Direct soliciting for money or sponsorship by any other method isn't permitted as it would be open to abuse.

Also worth looking here http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/Showcharity/RegisterOfCharities/CharityWithPartB.aspx?RegisteredCharityNumber=1107328&SubsidiaryNumber=0 , I would never support a charity that spends 40% of income on revenue raising and governance.0
