Ok so we're now 4 months away from our Wedding!!!
Although we have a lot of the large items of the planning complete there are still many smaller things that need doing and organising. Think I'm in overload and read too many websites, forums, magazine, books, advice from others etc that I'm all in a muddle.:(
Only just realised its now 4 months and H2B has annouced that he will be working alll of Nov & Dec (including weekends) so its all going to fall onto me. As well as sorting out my Mums retirement & 60th birthday plus christmas!
Argh! I am a perfectionist and a control freak and now really worried I'm going to miss something really important out! Plus facing redundancy in the next year so also job hunting
Can anyone recommend or send me a wedding planning guide with everything that needs doing (know this will include things we wont be having) but I need some help!

Hi sharpee,
I'm using weddingspot.co.uk to help me plan - their to do list is very comprehensive, and even better can be amended, added to, bits removed that you don't need, etc. They've also got a really useful table plan widget that allows you to change the size and shape of the room (our reception room is about 65' x 18' so this is very very useful for me!), and add different size and shape tables, move people from one table to another, and so on.
LOL, sounds like I work for them, but I promise I don't!!
When you've got your overall to do list sorted, work out how much you can do each month/week/day.
As for your H2B, he may be working a lot, but surely he can help a little? After all, you're extremely busy as well with everything else!
Good luck
x

The best way to do it is to decide the amount you want to pay for it. You and your husband should decide what is most important to you from the day, for example:
Bride: Beautiful Setting, Flowers, Attendants
Groom: Nice Venue, Band, Photography
Then search out average budgets on the internet. Using your "most important" list you know what you need to arrange first and what a large proportion of your budget will go on.
From that list, getting a nice venue booked in will be the first priority (say £3k) - the day they have available means you can then book what next is important, so the photographer (£700) and the band (£1k) for the date. Then you can put your priorities into what is next important to you, but not time essential, like your dress and flowers (£600, £300), getting your 4 bridesmaids and 4 ushers sorted in attire (£600 together).
Then you need to arrange invitations (£100), transport (£400), rings (£300).
If your look is a most important factor, sort out your make-up artist, hairdresser earliest to get it booked in. If you're stressed about the dress and you don't care about transport, get the dress organised first.
For us, we had 3 months and it went - venue, photographer, dress, theme, invites, flowers, men's attire, bridesmaids, my make-up.
If you really don't care what DJ you'll have, you can leave it till later on - but if the evening's entertainment is very important, best sort it out sooner than later. If your husband wants to have a ferrari drive him to the venue, get that organised shortly.
And so on, I found it easier to work like that than following the traditional "With 12 months to go you should have arranged x and y. 6 months, you must have organised z".0
