Old hsbc debt

a few years ago an old hsbc debt was sold? to marlin, they immediately wouldn't accept the payment that we had been making happily to hsbc and issued court summons. The summons was for an inflated amount and stated that it was for an overdraft debt when infact it was a personal loan. We replied on the papers the amount that we thought the debt was for and that the type of account was wrong and our offer of payment 25.50 a month. This was accepted and our balance used we have been paying this amount ever since. The ccj debt amount was £15591 including court costs it now stands at £14895. It still shows as a current account on our credit files. We have gradually been paying off our other debts and this one is the biggie. I would like to clear it somehow maybe through full and final settlement by borrowing form family but unsure where to start! Any advice will be greatfully recieved.

Above is a link on full & finals which might be useful.
Are they still adding interest on to the debt (the CCJ will state if they are allowed to). If they are then this often reduces the chance of a F&F on a CCJ. Generally on a CCJ you don't get such low percentage F&Fs accepted as people do for debts that haven't been to court.
All you could really do is to see what money you could get together and then write a F&F offer. You might want to state that this is money from a relative and if only offered on the condition it pays off the debt in full.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
