  • I used to know a Mark Williams, but I don't think you are the same chap. Although he was very nice. I know that he isn't you because he has a Golf.
  • Hi Just a couple of thoughts. You need to add a bit more detail to your SOA- you need to include- mot? haircuts? magazines? chocolate? birthday presents? christmas presents? meals out? prescriptions? cinema? pub? etc.

Also I'm guessing that you don't have a spare £400 a month to throw at your debts- so where's it going? If you do a spending diary you can see where you are spending the money and where you might be able to cut back.

Good Luck with it all - you sound very determined. Keep us informed of how you get on.
Making my money go further with MSE :j
How much can I save in 2012 challenge
    75/1200

  • I have thought about that, as I know it would save alot of money. But I am so cautious and worried incase knowing my luck I cancel it and loose my job or have an accident. I am tempted though. Just not sure whether I should, isnt it too risky with such a large loan with nearly 3 1/2 years to go

Well MOT is only every June at £50, haircut (well im stingy and its slow growing) so only spend £7 every 3 months :D rarely buy magazines or go out drinking etc. so do save alot of money of things like that. I do actually try and save £300 a month which I can do quite comfortably. Leaving £100 to spend on presents or meals out etc.

And i really am determined, I sold a car that I liked for something cheaper to run and more economical, and I'm using my girlfriend as my motivation and moving out my goal of paying off my debts. So I am VERY determined
  • Well i have since sold my petrol guzzling Alfa Romeo and bought a TDI Golf which so far is showing big savings, i've cut my petrol bill from £25 a week (Alfa Romeo 145 miles) to £15 a week (Golf 160miles) so thats prooved to be a good choice.

I'm still working on my savings and I've worked out that if i continue my loan payments and continue with trying to save at least £250-300 a month I should be able to repay my loan December 2008 :) Two years earlier than the normal pay off date.

Just wondered about cancelling the PPI. I know it would save alot but how would i go about doing it and is it worth while? I'm in a paid weekly job, which in all honesty is very cushy job, how ever it is really quiet at the moment. But i am looking for new work, i've even thought about joining the police.
