Thursday 6th October - what small DFW things will you do today??

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Morning all,

I have a very un-DFW appointment today...with a cosmetic dentist. It is a free consultation to see how much it would cost to get my teeth straightened, I am hoping since they're not TOO bad it will be afforable before the wedding, but knowing my luck it won't be! Wish me luck.

Today's list:-

  • Cycle to work & home again - Failed at the first hurdle...was running late so took the car thinking I'd be quicker, but noooo! Traffic was so bad it took the same amount of time so I was late anyway :(
  • [strike]Make use of free water at work[/strike]
  • [STRIKE]Charge phone at work[/STRIKE]
  • [strike]Stay in at lunchtime to avoid spending[/strike]
  • [strike]Food from stores[/strike]
  • [STRIKE]Check for surveys[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Enter comps[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Check online banking[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]Check out this weeks flylady thread[/STRIKE] & do something
  • Make meal plan
  • Washing on eco setting
  • Hang up to dry
  • Decide what to do with the £75 voucher I received early for 5 years long service...treat myself? Or go on Christmas presents like a sensible person...hmm...
  • [STRIKE]See if I can get any more Amazon vouchers in time for ordering OH's birthday present[/STRIKE] - Might be able to get an extra £20 if I wait a little while!
  • [STRIKE]Take refillable water bottle to Polenastics tonight & get a lift there, time to give some petrol money tonight though so must remember to get out a tenner[/STRIKE]
Have a great, MSE day everyone x

    Morning Gang,

Thanks to Perni for starting the thread – good luck at the dentist!

Hope everyone else is good – hugs to those that need them

Ok, so the saga of my AAT membership continues....received an email from them asking for more information....phoned CCCS to request info and phoned AAT who told me that more people are being referred to the Compliance Team to discuss their membership (perhaps it’s a sign of the times!)

CCCS emailed me a list showing that I have made regular payments, confirmation of what has been paid off and the current balance (in the form of my latest statement).

Need to email the college leader to advise her.

    Today I have/will:
    • Checked online banking – no change but moved AAT money to savings account whilst they deal with my application
    • Hope that the AAT people call me to discuss my application
    • Meals from storecupboard
    • NSD – Need this today
    • Read freebie paper on the train
    • Used railpass to get to work
    • Checked quidco – hubby’s purchase has tracked
    • Read newspapers online
    • Reading a library book when I have spare time
    • Need to charge up mobile at work
    • Take vits and meds to control hormones
    • Update food diary
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Need to keep an eye out for MS jobs and surveys
    • Email/phone college tutor re AAT membership – see if there is any real need to panic as my exam isn’t until December
    • Copy all the college work that I need to do on the train home
    • Catch up on the thread as I didn’t get a chance to pop back on yesterday

Think that is about all, have a great day and sparkle!

Greeting from Thailand where it is already mid afternoon.

I had a cup of instant noodles for my lunch 8 baht (16 pence).

I will go to the local second hand book store on my way home from work and exchange some of the books I bought at auction on Saturday for ones I actually want to read. i buy the books in bundles that work out at about 20 baht per book and usually get around 60-70 baht credit each when I trade them in.

I will visit my local bar tonight and stay only for happy hour (buy one get one free 9 p.m.-10 p.m.

I will visit the local auction company's website when it gets updated this evening with details of Saturday's sale and make a list of what I will bid for, either for my own use or resale, and my never to be broken maximum bids I will pay for each item.

I usually make around 5000 baht a month buying stuff at the weekly auctions and then selling it in the local English language weekly newspaper or local message boards. I find spending an hour or two planning on Thursday stops me getting carried away and bidding too much on Saturdays.

    Good morning,

Its freezing in Scotland today, I don't like it! I'm slowly getting over my horrible cold, still got a sore throat and terribly runny nose though!

    - Check bank, move pennies to ISA.
    - Have a NSD or at least a LSD
    - Work hard, computer been broken for 2 days so got alot of work to catch up on
    - Check out newletter & freebie boards.

    Think thats about it!

Afternoon all - just back from a freezing cold and soaking wet long walk with the dog - we're both drenched! Am now in PJs and dressing gown!

Also had a lovely 2 hour "twilight INSET" - charming:mad:

    A few small things...
    • Had a LSD
    • Had free lunch at work for doing duty
    • Walked dog locally instead of driving to the park
    • Hoovered downstairs and washed wood flooring after we came in and dripped mucky stuff all over the place
    • Checked bank - no change (pay day a week tomorrow)
    • Do any surveys that come
    • Stay in tonight
    • All food from stores
That's it - off to get warm and make some tea:o
