Might have a job interview in the morning

EEEEKK.
I'm scared.
After sending off about a thousand job applications, i've finally bene contacted about a job interview tomorrow.
I'm extremely nervous. My last job interview was about 8 months ago I think, and it was literally the worst job interview you could imagine. I was awful. Very embarrassing. I can't sell myself very well. I couldn't answer the interviewers questions. I lack confidence in such situations and I think I suffer from social anxiety (undiagnosed)
It only a warehouse job. Packing/sorting etc I assume. I think the interview is through an agency. Got an email a few hours ago saying to go to a place that is quite near me for the interview and to bring passport and a document with my NI number on it.
questions:
Do you think it will be an 'easier' interview as it's through an agency as opposed to the actual company?
What shall I wear? I think as it's for a manual job I should go casual/smart?
I wasn't given any further instructions as to where to go, so do I just go to the reception desk and say im here for a job interview with 'X' agency??
Thanks!

I would go casual/smart at least. I don't think you can really over-dress for an interview, even for manual labour.
Try to relax... if it's a packing/sorting job, the questions really oughtn't to be that taxing.
Good luck and go and get some sleep.

Done.
Was very nervous.
When i got to reception the lady told me how to get to the interview room, and when she'd finished directing me (go to the double doors, turn right, take the second left, up the stairs, past the lift etc etc etc) I realised that I'd not actually taken in a word she'd said!
I get this all the time, especially when i'm nervous. I wish I didn't. My mind completely shuts down
Luckily, there was a guy next to me whose interview was at a similar time, so I just followed him!
Got there and took quite a long maths test. 50 questions.
This is where I impressed myself a little.
I've not done long division and long multiplications in about 10 years. I literally re-taught myself how to do it as I was taking the test, lol.
For example, the 1st question was like 2580/6
My first attempt, using what I thought was how I remember being taught gave me a stupid answer. like 43.
I know 'roughly' that the answer should be about 400.
I then experimented with how I carried the numbers over until I got an answer of 430 which sounds right (and was)
I got 50 out of 50 correct.
Then the interview.
Not great. Better than my last interview, but then it wasn't as hard.
In my last interview, I had 2 guys firing questions at me, sitting miles away, trying to get me to 'sell' myself, all in a quiet room. I mumbled and stuttered and stared blankly at them, completely embarrassing myself :ROTFL:
This time it was just one guy, mainly him talking about the job, in a more relaxed atmosphere, and asking me a few questions. ''why should I hire you??''
I just said i'm hard working, enjoy working as part of a team and have some experience in a similar role.
Anyway, I don't know If I got the job or not, yet. Nobody did. They interviewed about 30 people today, and I think there's about 8 proper jobs, with some people who will be called for emergency shifts etc.
Anway, just have to wait and see if I hear anything now I guess.
Thought i'd fill you in, though.
This sort of thing is abig deal to me, due to being a nervous 'shipwreck' of a guy in such situations!0 -
Fingers crossed, hope you get good news soon.0

well done on the interview! you did well in your test, so you're ahead of some people already! i'll keep everything crossed for you....i understand the anxiety because i can get like that too xx0

Thanks guys.
Glad someone replied.
Anyway, I got a call a while ago and was asked if I can do a days work tomorrow! I assume it's some sort of trial.
*I am super super nervous, though. About all kinds of things*
Even more so because he said that this particular job that needs doing ''requires someone with a good brain' as its not just loading trucks etc'', and that's why they chose me.
However, I am SO SO stupid in lots of situations. I may have done well on the maths test, but I completely lack common sense and am not good at understanding direction. I really feel that i'm gonna embarrass myself tomorrow. I hope not, though.
*Im nervous about finding the exact location of the warehouse. I can't drive so Im gonna get an early bus to hopefully give me time to find it.
Also, as it's at a depot/warehouse, are there actually entrances with a reception and stuff, usually? I never notice entrances in such buildings; just the big shutters that lead into the warehouse with the lorries outside. I can picture myself wondering around not knowing where to go.
I also really hope that my 'induction' will be with other people whose first day it is rather than just me on my own.
Aaarggghhh....I wish I was normal. I have friends who don't seem to get nervous about much 'bigger' things....0 -
You don't sound stupid to me! Relax this job should be easy. They'll almost certainly be other people starting with you. They are not expecting geniuses for this kind of role, if they are they are being naive. Tell yourself they are lucky to have you rather than the other way around. Keep your head down, do your best, be pleasant and friendly to all the people that matter and you'll be fine.
You do sound like you have Social Anxiety but being out of work for a long time can cause this for a lot of people. It's normal to be nervous, don't worry about it if you make mistakes on your first day. Most employers just want to see you care and are putting in the effort.0 -
Good post from NoNoDrama there, just be yourself, listen to what you are directed to do, if you dont understand any part of the instruction ask them to repeat it, they will appreciate it rather than you do it wrong, you feel a p r ick and they take half an hour to sort things out.
Good luck and keep us informed.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Just hoping you had a good day Morganedge. Also that today leads to more work for you. Best of luck x0
