Starting a DMP

Hello
Husband and I have just signed up for a DMP and feeling a bit scared. We have opened new bank account (which I'm convinced they will close and I don't know why I feel like that) and am about to start the process of moving all the household DDs over.
Would like to read about peoples experiences of DMPs and what we can expect but can't seem to see a specific board for them on here. Is there one and if so where? Could really do with some support as its a very scary time.
Thanks

Hiya Molly it seems we are at the same stage as you. We are just starting on our DMP journey with CCCS and today and tomorrow I will be transferring our DD to new bank account!! It is a scary time but the way I look at it is it wont be half as scary as wondering how on earth we were going to get through the week with no money and how we were going to pay everything. Our situation was brought about mainly because my OH income as taken a big battering he is self employed and in this climate his business is really struggling. Our debts are around 14k and it will take around 10 years to clear although I intend to do it a lot sooner if possible! We are trying to look at this as a fresh start to finally get ourselves a budget that will work. Also I am looking forward to being able to say yes a little bit to my two wonderful children who never really ask for anything but when I have to say no to them picking a packet of biscuits that they fancy in the supermarket it makes me feel really sad now i'm going to let them take it in turns to pick a packet every week!!!!
Good luck and hope the next few weeks run fairly smoothly for us both x0 -
