hope you never had credit at the address, a debtors search will revial your name. As I say water debt you never get away with, if it was the period you were there you or your dad will be liable. They dont put defaults so better to deal now than let it goto court.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Hi jimjim

Let's be clear about this. Water authorities do not report to credit reference agencies (at the moment!) so no default will appear on your file.

However, they are quick to start a court claim and I would not expect a three year gap before they do so. The ccj would appear on your file. Are you sure you haven't already got one?

    Your options are

    (1) engage with them to agree a payment plan

    (2) ignore them and test whether the likely threats of a court claim actually materialise. They have six years from when you last acknowledged the debt or the 'cause of action accrued' and it sounds like you are three years into that.

I agree with the others that an 'I'm not liable' approach isn't a sensible option.
