I work in the care profession - so cant start any actual paid shifts until my CRB clearance (criminal records check to work with Vulnerable adults & children)- just hope they dont want me to pay the £45 for a CRB check, otherwise I cant even do that.

Sometimes they come in 2 weeks - other times it can take up to 3 months!!!!!

CRB checks are currently being completed very quickly and it's extremely unlikely that your employer wouldn't pay for it.

My last 3 employers have asked me to pay - they reckon too many people were getting them done and then leaving within their probationary period. So now they are ofsetting the cost onto employer to show they seriously want the job.

I feel its unfair and they should pay for it and only if you leave within the contracted probationary period should they make you pay by keeping it from your wages.
