Has anyone else tried it / what do you think of it?
Just tried it for the 1st time and I'm very disappointed by the results .... only 1/2 the items on my receipt were compared for starters.
2ndly, there are some things that are more expensive at Mr A (eg Lacto*free milk was £1.31 compared to £1.23 at Mr Ts, Plain Flour 98p at Mr A and 90p at Mr T) but because Mr A have one item on offer (Ariel gel reduced from £6.11 to £4 when it's £8.17 at Mr T) the overall price is less at Mr A.
Just wondered what others had thought when they'd tried this - seems pointless to me unless you don't ever buy anything that's on offer!

Yes, I had a similar experience. My thought was to put through everything on offer as a separate transaction. I only once have had a coupon for any discount, worth £2 on a £70 shop. Sure it's nice to have it but as you say, other places are cheaper for a fair few things.0

to be honest isnt worth paper its printed on the words they use "on your compareable grocery shop versus tesco, morrisons, sainsburys and waitrose"
so in other words they are talking about the whole shop not indiviual items and they will only compare the big 4 limited in itself, plenty of other good cheaper providers out there lidl, aldi, iceland to name but a few but they are not that brave,
and if you check it find it cheaper else where they will give you 10% cheaper wow arent i thankful i goto buy it all then check prices of everything then tell them else where is cheaper and they will give me some pence cheaper over a whole shop. No Thanks ill just shop around.
if they wanted to do a proper guarantee should be 10% cheaper with any shop against, on individual items not a whole shop, and once a cheaper price is found it should changed nationally across all stores. then they would have something to shout about.
personally this week i have bought below from icelands cheaper
robinsons 1.75ltr asda £3.49/ iceland £2 saving £1.49 per bottle
coke cola 3 ltrs £1.50 iceland / at asda is £1.78 for 2 ltrs
so start looking like a no brainer by shopping around!
i wonder how many people challenege and get somewhere with its guarantee
the only shame is mysupermarket.co.uk doesn't compare morrisons, icelands, lidls and aldis as well now that would be helpful!0 -
Thanks - I'm glad I'm not the only one that's been disappointed IYSWIM (re coke, our Mr A had 4 x 2L for £4 which also works at the same price as Iceland this week)
I would love to be able to shop around but being pretty rural this isn't an option due to fuel prices:
Mr A - 18 mile round trip, direction A
Mr T - 18 mile round trip, direction B
L*idl, A*ldi, Farm*Foods, Ice*land - 40 mile round trip, direction C
Mr S, Home Bar*gains - 60 mile round trip, direction C
Mr M - 45 mile round trip, direction D
I do go to the shops in Direction C every so often but just can' justify the fuel cost going every week for the odd bits....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
