It really is Kerri! I'm awaiting a bank statement to prove my address, then I think I will get it, maybe move my spendable cash into there and manage bills from my current account.

Now off to CAB and care co ordinator for round 9643239781 with the DWP for my Income Support and HB!

Great news. You must be very relieved. My suggestion is that you now do the following -

    • Set up that new basic bank account. Even though the immediate pressure is lifted, they may stuff up again. This recent call could get forgotten for example. Basic rule - get your income (benefits) paid into an account with a different bank than the one that you have your loan & OD with.
    • Even though true 'savings' might seem completely alien to you now, you need to put a small amount aside when you get paid before everything else to cover you for those bills you mention that get taken at different times. I suggest you use your existing account for this, and have all direct debits set up. This is the way forward, one account for your bills (and loan) and a seperate one for your income.
    • Chip away at that overdraft
    • Be happy that you are sorting out your finances. This sets you apart and above from a VERY large proportion of society that bury their head in the sand. You deserve to be congratulated for taking steps to get on the road to financial recovery.
Don't ever forget how you were feeling when you wrote your first post. This should stop you from doing anything that will get you there again.
