Furrypig are you pressing the quick reply button at the bottom of each message? the quick replies have no smilies :(

you need to press the 'post reply' at the bottom of the thread

furrypig - you can do it 3 different ways:-

    1) If you see one in the post above that you like, highlight it with your cursor, right click on your mouse button, use the "copy" function (or press Ctrl and C on your keyboard) then just "paste" it into your message.

    2) If you use the "Post Reply" button, the menu bar above the white square where you type your reply has a white smiley and a mini arrow next to it; click on the white arrow and a drop down box will appear with most of the smilies on it, select by clicking on the one you'd like and it will appear where your cursor is on the message.

    3) Follow 2 above, but, when the drop down box appears, scroll to the bottom of the drop down box and you will see the words: "--show all smilies--" , click on that and a pop up window will come up with all the smilies showing: now, print them off or memorise the keystroke shortcuts :D

ie: (do not use the _ which I will use to as a space mark so you can see the codes)

    = :_eek_:
    = :_beer_:

So, if you want to use the "quick reply" option when answering a thread, you will need to do either 1) or 3) of the methods above.

    Does that help?

I've come from a website where we had to write all our own smileys though, I can do the basic ones by writing them in but anything special baffles me.
