            What has she done wrong?
Good managers are not always liked by their underlings.
 Priceless.
Referring to them as underlings would hardly get them on-side. With most people there are ways to get the job done.
Management is the skill (art/science/magic) of getting someone else to do some work.
If you can't do it without annoying people, then maybe it's you, not them? :cool:0

disagree. sometimes there is no gain without pain. challenging existing methods of working and implementing new strategies is exactly what a successful business is all about.
why do you think places like tescos are so successful despite being staffed by people whose educational background is going to be extremely limited? is it because head office gives a toss what the shop floor thinks? no, its their way or the highway.
public sector bodies are the only area of society where this kind of mob rule exists, and i am 99.9999% certain thats the environment that the OP works.0

Denied staff development, split the team, allowed workplace bullying, siphoned off funds. Would cut herself off and use her works phone for private calls. Witheld information...I could go on.
The thing is, public sector gives Westminister a run for its money with corruption. Our new temp manager wants to deck her!0

the problem in the public sector is that the managers arent on the level of those in the private sector so this is the kind of crap that occurs.
the low level staff in the public sector are great people, just as they are in the private sector.
management is where the difference lies in the two sectors.......0

When did she go on secondment (sounds recent) and when is she due back? If she's not due back for a while there is no point in doing anything yet. The situation may well resolve itself without any of you putting yourselves at risk.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

It is possible she has been brought in to shake things up.
Maybe the "team" has all got a bit too cosy.0
