Samsung TV Won't Turn On

Hey everyone.

Not sure of the model but the Samsung TV in the lounge won't turn on.

It started after a power cut (although, we have those surge protector thingies).

It was okay at first and now it's like it's tripping. The red standby light keeps flickering and the screen flickers, goes off and then flickers again.

I've read that it might be that one of the capacitors has blown but we're not sure.

We've turned if off and on again and unplugged everything etc and it's still not working.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Probably is the capacitors - Samsung TVs don't exactly have the best reputation.

Is it still under warranty, if so return it.

If you know anyone vaguely technical they could probably fix it with a soldering iron. There's plenty of videos on Youtube etc that show you how, and it only costs a few £. That's if it is the capacitors.

If it's a CRT TV (I'm assuming it is), please be careful as there are some serious voltages in there. The power cut may also have damaged the transformer and/or other bits and pieces.
Does it come on at all (i.e. give you a picture)?
