Shall I use this bacon?

I opened a pack of cooking bacon to make a quiche with on Thursday. Says on the pack 'once open use within 2 days' but it's still got 4 days left on its use by date. It's been in the fridge wrapped in a food bag the whole time. Think it'll be OK to use this evening? I will be feeding it to 4 kids BTW, not just myself

I would use it if it is still in date and has been well wrapped. To be honest I'd use it if it was still in date and WASN'T well wrapped...I never take any notice of the things that say 'use within x time once open' etc!0

I wouldn't think twice about using it.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Yeah my common sense side always says ignore the 'once opened...' information but I always have this little voice in the back of my head that says 'Don't use it!'.
I wonder why they put this warning on packs, I mean surely whatever the item is will still remain fresh until its use by if it's been properly rewrapped and refrigerated? Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

If it looks OK and it smells OK then I'd use it.Household: Laura + William-cat

I buy bacon loose from the butchers so there is no sell by date. It will sit in the fridge in clingfilm for a week with no problem.0

blimey, mine can be open weeks and even if it's still a bit crispy around the edges if I've not wrapped it properly I'll still use it as long as it looks and smells ok, bacon is cured so it's not like normal meat if that makes senseAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

Bacon is cured so its been hanging around for a long time and will last, as long as its in a fridge, for ages. You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans.0

it should be fine - the use by date takes into account that the item will NOT be kept under the best conditions - so if you do refrigerate and wrap - that item should last longer than they say! IYKWIM0
