Hi. I guess this question has probably been asked more than once, but with me being new to the forum and to debt I have to start somewhere. Does anyone have any advice on which of the Three free debt advisor's would be the best to approach and the easiest to deal with. Thanks

Depends on your circumtances really. I would advise using one of the charities. All should be able to help in some way.
CAB is very good at giving other advice in addition to debt advice (eg things like benefits etc), getting an appointment with a money advisor at CAB can take a while, especially as they have had their funding cut.
CCCS are very good if you are happy to do things via phone & internet. You can also start with the online debt remedy tool so that when you have your telephone appointment they already know some of your details.
CAP are great if you need someone who can visit you at home (if they have advisors in your area).
National debtline are great at offering specific advice on one off problems, but if you want ongoing support or to consider something like a DMP then they will refer you on to one of the others instead.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I'd recommend CCCS.
Just make sure you don't use one that charge for their services, ie if they recommend you go on a DMP (debt management plan) make sure they don't take a cut of the money before paying your creditors. CCCS won't do this.December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

Thanks for the replies, very helpful. Unfortuately I suffer very badly with depression so could not deal with it on the phone/internet so I think CAB will be my best option0
