I'd be surprised if a weeks wearing and three weeks occassional wearing of the shoes has caused this.

I know, I've read up quite a bit on it, and like previously stated, no-one really knows how it's caused. So for him to put in writing it was these shoes was quite surprising to me too.

I am back there in 2 weeks for another injection so might question it again. He showed me on the shoe the fault with the sole and leather side and explained what it had done to my toe bones, all made perfect since and the area of pain and type of pain etc was spot on. He did mention a slight chance of a fracture but he ruled that out due to area of pain and other things.

I did mention I'd only had them on for about 5-6 hrs a day since coming to work in different shoes but he said the amount of standing and bending of toes in the shoe area (which has slightly given way) even in less time could cause it. Said it's how much the bones move against the nerve?

    Agree though, very strange.

I doubt the employers OH will be using him much in future! He is stepping way beyond his skills and experience. Like I said, I love my podiatrist to bits, but she isn't a doctor or a medical expert. And wouldn't claim to be. (Anyone squeamish stop reading now) Last time I went was just two weeks ago and I had some blood bilsters on my feet - just two small ones, which she questioned. I had been walking in Scotland (ok yes - when the hurricane hit I was actually whisky sampling, but what is a girl to do?) and the first thing she said was "shoes". And yes, I had some new walking boots since the beloved pair fell apart. But it wasn't the shoes - they are very expensive and not a seam or flaw in sight. I walk a lot and don't stint a penny on boots. It was just life - sometimes feet aren't all they ought to be. Like my bunion - podiatrists will tell you that tight fitting, narrow, high-heeled shoes can cause them. I am sure they can. But since I have never owned anything approaching that description of shoes... Sometimes, bones in feet (and elsewhere) can let you down and there isn't always an explanation. It xould be a family trait (mother gets the blame for the bunion!) or just the luck of the draw. And considering whatever else you could have wrong with your health - well, I just work on being grateful for it being a bunion! Things have a tendency to work out if you try, and it sounds like you will. Good luck though.
