Freezing margarine?

Options
Has anyone had any success with freezing and defrosting low fat margarine?

I'd like to take advantage of a special offer Tesco is running at the moment by buying in bulk at the special, introductory price

I'm told that, to avoid separation, you need to wrap the stuff in several layers so that it freezes more slowly than would otherwise be the case. Then, it has to be defrosted in the fridge, again to slow matters down.

I'd like to know if anyone has actually got this down to a fine art.

It's a Tesco own brand and they won't have any truck with people wanting to stockpile at low prices!

Yes but I believe you may be talking about high fat content marge.

What I'm dealing with here is a low-fat, water based product (a la Diet Flora)which, as I understand it, would tend to separate out on defrosting.

Don't know if this is relevent, but St Ivel Gold extra light says that it should not be frozen.
How long would your spread last in the fridge? (Bearing in mind that you can go weeks over the sell by date as long as the packet is unopened - opening means that thre is a slight chance of contamination from eg meat paste or something on a knife).

I think the best thing for me to do is buy one tub and then experiment with some of it!
