Hi. Well I hung a carrier bag of water out of my bedroom window because, well I thought it would be funny if my housemates in the room below grabbed it and got wet. But one of them pulled it in, and I mean hard, they broke the string that I was holding it with. Anyway, somehow, somewater got onto the tv and is now kinda broken, to make thing worse this is a rented property, so we defonately have to tell our landlord an see if it can be repaired or if it need replacing, but surely it's gonna have to be payed for by us. Basically, I think that my the guy who pulled the bag through the window should have to pay, bit everyone says it's my fault and I should have known better coz they'd been drinking. What should I do? I know that if the bag wasnt there this wouldn't have happened but equally it shouldnt have been pulled in.

Are you for real, because of your downright stupidity (i cant think for a moment why you would think it would be funny) Maybe it will teach you to think ahead in the future.

Dig deep, you should pay upIf you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. - Mark TwainNappies and government ministers need to be changed frequently and for the same reason0

All practical jokers should carry insurance and a hazard warning. They set up stupid traps and say they are not responsible. Pay up.It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0

It's your fault but speak to your landlord and maybe he will have some kind of insurance in place or something. If not, and one of you has to pay up, it should be you.0

Yes, you should pay. It was a stupid thing to do, and had you thought about it in advance it would have been obvious that it could easily lead to something getting damaged. (Eevn if the string hadn't broken, your friend could easily have ended up with a water-damaged phone, or watch)
Pay up, stop complaining, and avoid stupid pranks in future.
(Oh, and I'd be very surprised if the Landlord has insurance which would cover this - it clearly isn't accidental damage, and even if they do, I would anticipate that the landlord would prefer to recover the cost of the amage from the tenants who caused it, rather than face paying higher premiums next year)All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
