Car on finance

Hi there everyone, its been a couple since i last posted, that was for my own bankruptcy. As things may have changed i have a few questions for my partner who is thinking of going BR.

1/ She has a 05 plate car which is on finance, now were not exactly sure how much is owing, but as of October 2010 £5800 was owed, and £161 pcm month is being paid. The agreement ends Oct 2013. I reckon the car is worth about £3000, Would she be able to keep it? She is a home carer and does 400 miles a week so needs a reliable motor.

2/ She bought a new sofa in May 2010, and only started paying this year, DFS deal! Would she get to keep that? its probably worth about £1000

3/ Is it the norm that Vodafone will cancel her contracts? I know O2 made me cancel even though i agreed to carry on paying.

4/ What happens to Sky and BT Broadband?

Anything else she may lose that i havent mentioned, thanks for your help

For the car on finance, is it a loan or HP?

Assuming that the outstanding HP is higher than the value of the car, then the OR will send a letter of non-adopt to the HP company. it is then down to the HP company to decide what to do.

Thats great thanks, hopefully they will let her keep it as she has always maintained the payments. Can you answer any of the other questions at all? Thanks again

Don't know about vodaphone as I have a pay as you go. Regards to sky, when I was declared bankrupt I called them up and explained situation (payments were always up to date). Account was able to stay in my name but future payments were to be taken from my husbands bank account (with his agreement of course ,lol). They were absolutely fine and not shocked or snotty about it.

I never bothered telling Sky, not in debt with them so never saw the need. Therefore I have continued to make payments from my own account.
When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN :D

It is irrelevant as to whether she has maintained payments, the issue will be what it says in the contract about br.
