Squirty cream and branflakes recipes??

Hi,
sorry if i've posted in the wrong forum - i would love to hear from anyone with ideas!!XX

Firstly, I've got a can of anchor squirty cream in the fridge which is about to expire - apart from 'topping' what can i do with it??
Could i heat it up in a pan and turn it into 'liquid cream' - would it split/curdle etc........can i 'make milk' - add in water and use it instead of milk??.... and maybe bake with it???

Secondly I've a whole box of branflakes - no one eats them!! - any recipe ideas??

Thanks for any helpXX

    Hi frugal_living,

The squirty cream will probably be fine for a few days after it's bbf date as it keeps for ever in the fridge, usual rules apply...look at it, smell it, taste a tiny bit. If it passes all those then I'd probably use it. Most of them tend to be sweetened so it may not be best for using in savoury sauces.

This thread should help with the bran flakes.

+1 for the branflakes used for cornflake cake :D Squirt the cream on top and grate a little choc on top of that for a naughty unusual treat. I hate cream, but can imagine OH going wild for something like this!

But then, I used to eat bran flakes mixed with water whilst on a diet at university...and have loved them in any form ever since!

    How about this recipe?

Step One - Bin the bran flakes.
Step Two - Place the squirty cream nozzle in your mouth.
Step Three - Hold down the squirty cream button until said cream comes out of your ears! :rotfl:

What about reducing the branflakes to crumbs and flavoring them for using as a crunchy topping sweet on puddings, savoury with cheese, coriander etc to go on top of mac and cheese or salmon. Could they be used like a savoury biscuitbase (like you make with a cheesecake) for a quiche? Can't really think for the squirty cream except quite nice with pancakes and tinned peaches.
  • I make All Bran cake using the cereal, milk, mixed spice, self raising flour, sugar and dried fruit. Bet you could do the same with Bran Flakes. Probably be rather nice :D
