    One last question if you have time. Is it worth trying more than 1 broker, even if they say whole of market?

    A broker will tell you, as best he can, who will definitely offer you the mortgage you need and the best rate which he can get to do that. That's not to say there isn't a better deal out there for you. It's just that it will be risky to try, as each search on your credit file leaves a footprint other lenders can see. Too many searches is not a good thing!

    I'd sit down with the broker and discuss possible alternatives at a closer to high street rate before deciding on a course of action.
