Credit report showing RED!

After seeing links on this site I registered with Annualcreditreport.co.uk.
It looks Ok overall but I owed approx £12 to a catalogue in 2001 (DID REPAY IT)and it is causing my credit payment history to show as RED!
I haven't missed a payment on anything since then ,does this ever disappear?
Also I have no footprints on my record as I haven't applied for credit ,this is also showing up RED! I have a credit card and do not require any more credit l,what can I do?
I just wonder if these RED scores would prevent me being accepted for Interest free Credit or future loans?
Maybe I shouldn't have looked:rolleyes:

Red usually means a default on that site.
Were you defaulted? If it was 2001 and it was settled then it should drop off soonNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Hi,
Not sure what you mean by defaulted,I just kept getting letters and forgetting to pay it (young and stupid !)
Does it drop off after 6 years?
If so ...not long to go!
Thanks

It means that the payment hasn't been made and then they issue a default.
It drops off six years after it has been settled to my understanding. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
i think its best not to worry.. I had a few REDS, contacted annual credit and they said ..blah blah blah..would you like to sign up to our paying service and it would all go away! so i wouldn't take too much notice because i'm in good credit but it states that i am not! because I haven't missed any payment in my life! it started turning RED around the time, when interest rates when up so i would just forget about it and if you do apply for credit or anything else, just tell them..where did you get my credit rating and is it upto date and accurate????

I have a RED for supposedly not applying for credit. This year I have taken 2 credit cards and made 2 mortgage applications. Seems their information is not that reliable.
Also have an AMBER for paying a £10 credit card bill 3 days late!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If you're confident you wouldn't run up any more debt you could apply for a credit card use it to buy your monthly groceries then pay it off in full each month.
You might have to start with someone like capital one with a high interest rate. But that doesn't matter as if you pay off the balance you wouldn't accrue interest anyway.0 -
I believe, although not certain, that they obtain their info from Call Credit, the smaller of the CRAs. Most of the info that was on my Experian report was missing from Annualcreditreport.silvercar wrote:I have a RED for supposedly not applying for credit. Last week they showed me as not being on the electoral roll at my address. We moved over the summer last year, were entered onto the roll in September and latest public listing was made on December 1st (I checked with the electoral officer). I don't think they are very reliable either.0
