Granola bars are packed with sugar so is fruit, so you have to watch how much you eat even of that.
Breakfast yes porridge, weekabiks or Bran Flakes.
No eating between meals. Switch to low fat crisps or savoury Snap A Jacks are good.
Cut out the sugar in coffee and tea. Use sweeteners if you can't go cold turkey. Fancy coffees in Starbucks etc all packed with extra calories.
go to Zumbia its fast and fun and not like just doing a treadmill etc.0 -

Breakfast yes porridge, weekabiks or Bran Flakes. Weetabix and Bran Flakes are high GI foods and - although better than nothing - will be no good to last to lunch. Porridge, cereals with a fibre count of more than 5g per 100g and not sugar enhanced are better. Bran flakes also have a high salt content.
No eating between meals. Smaller portions and sensible healthy snacking are a good way of keeping metabolism going and keeping appetite and blood sugar levels in check.
Switch to low fat crisps (to be avoided) or savoury Snap A Jacks are good. Snap-a-jacks are made with corn and rice, salt and salt laden flavour enhancers. They may be low in calories, but again a high GI product and no good for losing weight and controlling blood sugar levels.

I hate scales at the best of times, but this weekend I decided to clean the whole of my bathroom so moved every thing out of there. It was then that I thought "what the heck" and weighed myself... big mistake!
I've now put on a stone in weight so feeling rather glum about the whole thing.
So this got me thinking, that I need to definitely do some thing about this. I don't think of myself as fat, but would really like to loose this extra stone if not another one to go with it before Christmas. I'd like to start working out, but find that I've joined gyms in the past and generally don't go after the first week - i know I'm not the only one like that.
What do you guys generally eat during the week/weekend? And how do you exercise...? I usually have the following:
Breakfast: 1 x coffee, semi skimmed milk and half a tea spoon of sugar. 9am: Monday-Friday, I'll have another cup of coffee once I get into work.
Mid morning: Breakfast bar or a piece of fruit (apple, or banana)
Lunch: granola and low fat plain yoghurt or a sandwich, with a packet of plain crisps as a treat (though I did have a McDonalds on Friday... ssshhhh, don't tell the other half!!).
Mid afternoon: Piece of fruit
Dinner: Can be a selection of any thing... usually involving fresh veg. Could be a frozen chicken breast, or fish from the oven. Try to cook fresh/from scratch when possible. I work Friday and Monday nights though so usually just have a microwave meal as it's quick and easy.
Any suggestions would be a great help, or any diets that anyone is aware of that I could try...
I've emphasised the things you could change above.
First, about weighing - the most accurate weights will be first thing in the morning, naked, after going to the loo and before eating or drinking anything. Have the scales on a hard surface.
I'm doing the Dukan Diet. One thing Dr Dukan says is that there are 4 fruits which are a no-no because they are so full of sugar, and one of them is the one you mentioned - bananas!
Stop putting sugar in your tea/coffee.
You don't need crisps and you certainly don't need anything sold by McDonald's.
It's good that you cook properly from scratch. Read the list of ingredients on those microwave meals and you might think differently about them.
What are 'breakfast bars'? I find I need protein to start the day. An egg, and variations on an egg! If you have breakfast you're less likely to need snacks mid-morning.
