Well they may have changed the terms whilst she was off. But as long as it is clear that there is a week in lieu, so when she leaves she gets a weeks pay after she leaves.
  • Ok think we understand, We just assumed when it ended. She would start a new week and get paid at the end of that week, she has checked with other employees their has been no change for them, it just feel like they don't want to pay us when they should.

    Example
Person A................ Did 16 hours last week, paid on Saturday............. does 16 hour this week, paid on this Saturday
My OH received maternity pay/16 hours worth on Saturday........does 16 hours this week, no pay this week.

As I said yes if she was new starter, and they had told her in advance , we pay a week in lieu, That would be understandable

I get the point - but I also can't see what you are going to do about it. Sue them? Seriously, I get it's not the best of solutions to let it go, but what will kicking up a fuss or legal action get you? I would just get it (or put it) in writinmg that she is being paid a week in arrears, and keep records so you can prove what has been paid. Unless he is genuinely willing to put her job on the line over this. Because that is what legal action would probably entail, and that is what she would have to do if they won't shift their ground.
  • No plans to sue no!
given its our main income yes where quite stressed about it, we have no savings ,a little one to look out for, im already skipping meals to save money and wearing clothes fit for the bin, the idea of not having that payment is stressful yes.

but as itis , well we'll manage and just have to let it go.

It now becoming apparent its very much personal, My OH called to clarify the situation and simply asked when she would paid. He said Im effing sick of hearing about this, do you want to just go?
  • More drama today, the accountant told us,

Job one <bar works> is now paid in leiu

    Job two <cleaner> is not.

You might get one or the other on Saturday, But I'm not sure, testing situation, We might get something, or not.

    Not very reassuring tbh,

  • Could some clarify what we have been told today is above board/legal

Pay day is tomorrow, We we where is expecting to be paid, but they told us earlier in the week you might or might not. They called today and said this.

"You have two weeks maternity holidays due to you. You must take that tomorrow as your payment."

Next week when pay is due you will receive payment for this weeks cleaning, that weeks cleaning and that weeks bar work,

I assume the bar work is paid in lieu, thats fine.

The cleaning can't be, why are they paying double next week?

When asked claifiy which job is paid leui, He said, Dont know Im paying you like this for tax reasons. The maternity holiday pay is tax exempt. I can't add this weeks wages on to it or you will pay tax.

We dont know if hes bending rules for our or his beneift, we dont feel comfortable with it at all to be honest,

    Confused:mad:
