Wholemeal flour in cooking

Decided to cook more healthly and bought wholemeal flour, made some scones this morning and they took longer to cook than white flour ones, is this extra time something you need to add to cooking when using wholemeal flour?

I only bake bread with WM but find that it does take little longer. It also needs more water.NSD 0/150
