Anyone in Ireland?

Options
Hi there,

Are there any old stylers in southern Ireland? I'd love to hear your experiences and especially budgets - I keep reading about people managing on £12 or so a week and don't think that's really possible in Ireland - but what would be realistic?????????

    Hi Marie,

I'm in Wexford - I've been living here for a couple of years now. I've been trying to work out a liveable budget and have been amazed at some of the stories on here! I was wondering what kind of money people over were able to manage on seeing as the supermarkets don't mark down the prices so much and there don't seem to be as many bargain prices!!
  • I'm in Dublin. I'm not as OS as I could be. When OH shops he spends 60 Euro for the week, when I go, it's about 40 for the week for two adults. I would buy free range chicken and he buys the cheap stuff, but somehow always spends more than me. It's more to do with I'll make stuff and bulk buy veg for making soup, chicken and use left overs, etc..

I agree that things that are marked down look very very poor and not marked down as much as people on this site see. But I always check them out and frequently get something. As they say, every little helps. For me, biggest saving is not wasting anything that I do have.
  • I'm in RO Ireland and it's definitely true we miss out on alot of discounts and offers. Hubby reminds me though wages are higher in Ireland so things balance out. We have saved by simplifying our household/food budget as much as we possibly can without compromising health, cooking from scratch, using groupon/living social for treats, aldi special 6 and Tesco's 3 for 3 on fruit and veg. I have almost given up on Boots entirely and get toiletries in Superdrug when they are BOGOF. I visit my mum in UK usually every 6 months and actually go by eurolines or sail/rail so I can take a massive holdall which I bring back discounted toiletries/medical so abundant in UK. When Paracetamol is about e2.50 upwards here, and I got it in UK for 19p, it's cetainly worth it. Saying that though, we are due to move to UK in the next 6 months and really will miss Ireland.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!
