Daughter wants to get married in Spain

Our daughter has just got engaged and wants to get married in Spain.
We have a house in Andalucia where we spend approximately 6 months of the year
She is hoping to get married in 2013 in May.
The happy couple have never been married before and are not Catholic

Has anyone got any info whether this is possible, has any experience of organising such an event or anything else helpful!
Thank you

  • It is possible to get married in Spain. Unless you are all Spanish speakers, it will be easier if you speak to someone in the expat community such as the local CofE vicar etc who can advise you on the best route to go down. There are wedding packages available in hotels for civil ceremonies and also the registry office. If they are wanting to get married in a Catholic Church then they will need to be able to receive communion (Christened and Confirmed in the Catholic Church). There are many options open to them and really depends on what they want.

    Hope this helps a little!
:T Looking forward to the future :T

ooo thats sounds hopeful. We made enquiries to get married in Barcelona as it holds special memories for us, but unfortunately we were told as we are not catholic we couldn't marry in spain, we could have a blessing though.

i'll be watching this thread in case things have changed. :j
