Shoulder or cross body bag

Options
Which do you prefer especially in winter with wearing coats. I have a leather shoulder bag that I love and keep going back to but sometimes its a faff when I've got shopping and I have to fish for stuff as it doesn't have compartments but when I've tried a cross body bag before I've felt like its been strangling me.

cross every time even tho they are not as easy to find. I love having both hand free and maybe I am round shouldered but I cannot stand constantly 'hoking' shoulder bags back up onto my shoulder:D
  • A shoulder-bag with a strap that's long enough to wear as a cross-body one as well. I suspect the reason you feel like you're being strangled is that the strap isn't long enough. I prefer the cross-body ones as I've had a bag snatched off me late at night and I don't want to go through that anguish ever again.

Cross body, I got mine at an out of town retail outlet - MAcArthur Glen - black leather, £25 , decent quality still looks new after a few months of everyday use.

def across body. I have never goten on very well with one shouldered bags - they just annoy me as they keep falling off. When my children were small I used either a backpack or the cross body handbag so my hands were free - the habit stuck.

it can ruin an outfit though and sometimes they will rub on delicate fabric or cause your top or skirt to lift as you walk.

I prefer hand held bags but then I do drive everywhere, I also find cross the body bags unflattering I dont know why but they make me feel masculine, however I can see how useful it would be to use one, they have some Calvin Klein and other ones that looked good in TK Maxx:)

Radley have some great cross over bags, BUT don't shoot me I know normally these are expensive but there are any sales (up to 50% last week) or try ebay. I've got some brand new Radleys off ebay and a fraction of the price.

I love crossbody bags - never feel like i'm being strangled! Maybe you just havent found the right one for you. Mine has quite a long strap so isnt too tight.

I have 2 nice shoulder bags for when i have 2 carry a bit more and whilst i do like them they certainly dont get as much use as my x body ones.

Not if you have pretty ones:D

I use a Mulberry Alexa in plum as my day to day bag and dont think it looks masculine at all.

I know what you mean about the cross body bag. Why not get a rucksack and wear it on both shoulders? It's comfy over jackets and you can fit loads of shopping in it.
  • No bag is perfect for me -there's always something not quite right!:)
