MBNA - Is this weird or OK?

Had a phonecall from MBNA this morning. I have two credit cards with them (one BOS and one Abbey). Their suggestion is as follows:

They leave the lower balance account (Abbey) frozen and take the payments for both accounts (£17.42 and £13.19) from the CCCS and pay this off the higher balance (BOS card) until such a time when the I can increase my payments through the CCCS and come to an agreed arrangement for both. Therefore I will in effect be paying £30.61 off the BOS account and this balance will come down quicker.

I’ve said no but now I’m thinking about it I’m not sure. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

    Hi,
have you spoken to CCCS about this?
I can't give you any specific advice, I'm sure others on here can, I just popped in to say hi & good luck with it!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Do you mean the interest on the Abbey will be frozen? If this is the case then the £30 will be paid off the account that is accruing interest. Then yes it would be a good thing to pay of the account that accrues interest first.
  • Have spoken to the CCCS and they have said no - to not accept this and let them send the debt to a DCA

    Thanks
  • No, this is not acceptable. A large part of the £30 odd will just be going to their interest. It will be better for you if the £30 comes off of the debt. By freezing the interest in one account your credit record will already have a -ve mark on it, so there is absolutely no gain for you in them not freezing the interest on the other ac. Do not accept. They are trying to confuse you, and seem lile they are helping, when they are not.

It will be interesting to see if this is a new tactic, and if it comes up more often?
