thanks for the help, guys.
It's good to know that a couple of you think I should hang in there at home for as long as I can - makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing.
I haven't sold the old PC, no, lynz. I'm keeping the base unit as a fileserver (have far too much junk to fit on the lappy), the monitor was bust (another reason I bought the lappy) and the desk is going to my sister who's just got a new place.
I may, however, try and strip out a couple of components from the box I no longer need (TV card, sound card, stuff like that) and try and shift those. I have about a billion "sundry" cables, keyboards, speakers etc in the loft too, so should have quite a good "techy" pile for the carboot. Also, may try and get the monitor repaired under warranty and sell that on. (trouble is I'm never home long enough for a repair man to come :'()
I think selling's the one area where I'm going to be able to make ground up a little faster than I thought. I think if I could clear the CC from "extra" money from ebay, free vouchers, cashback, maybe some extra work (was thinking of doing some manual labour in the evenings - would be like being paid for the gym!) then by the time my loans are finished I'd feel like I'd reached a milestone.
Anyway, my short term target is getting to march. I hope things are gonna seem better then
1) I should get my pay rise through, hopefully worth about £200+ month takehome.
2) I won't have any outgoings for a few months (jan/feb are gonna be tough)
3) It's my bday in march so will get presents. Presents always make me feel better
4) It will be getting towards spring, so I can start getting really fired up for the carboot (I seem to think that spring's the best time for them - is that right, or me being stupid?)
5) It will be a couple of months since my sister moved out (she moved out last week - I think her and her bf moving in together has given me pangs of jealousy, hence my frustration at my inability to replicate this with gf)
6) I'll officially be over halfway through both of the big bad loans.
So, roll on march!

If you were to register for Pigsback, just by signing up for newsletters and doing the clickthroughs, you can soon mount up the points.....which can be exchanged for vouchers, Boots for example.
This could then help towards Christmas and birthdays.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

I think you are getting the idea now! Well done for the shift in thinking.
Sibling rivalry - I know it well  You will get over it.
Now get clearing and shifting stuff - I agree, spring is a good time for car boot - my most successful were Easter-time.
Good luck!!
