I had a bad case of strep throat 2 years ago. Lost my voice for several weeks and had to see a throat specialist. I was never told to throw anything out. It went once they found the right anti-biotics for me.
He is so much better today after just 1 injection, his throat looks entirely different (we have a great and rather amusing doctor, he encourages me to come over and have a look down his throat at the same time!!). He's had another injection today and is due another tomorrow before getting on oral antibiotics.

The bit about throwing the toothbrush out, and cleaning everything is to prevent infecting anyone else, or as we've been told reinfecting yourself. And since he seems to be getting better (from a throat that was literally yellow with pus), we may as well stick with the advice. I would say though this advice would make sense with a lot of illnesses, just to have a bit of a spring clean after.

im sure that the advice about freezing the bears was primarily to kill off dust mites, although i dont suppose it will do them any harm if you try

hope your OH gets well soon :j

Could you put some mild disinfectant (I was thinking of Dettol) in a spray bottle with some water, and just mist the bears? That might be easier and more effective than sponging them.

    Just a thought

you might have a point there, but the bears are looking a lil grubby... I've got until tomorrow morning to decide, since the OH is much improved tomorrow is another disinfect day!!

Could you use a spray like this to sterilise the teddies.

Also handy fro spraying on other surfaces around the house that OH may ha e come into contact with.

It costs about £2.50- £3.00 AT ASDA/TESCO etc.

I was going to suggest freezing - as a previous poster said. A polar bear experience.

I simply can't do this to the bears... not until I learn to knit lil mittens, hats, woolly jumpers and bootees!! :rotfl:

That spray looks good, will have to grab some.

I would think a bear would prefer a short visit to the freezer, might bump into some polar bear cousins, than being sprayed with nasty chemicals.
