Help please, I have discovered a unopened packet of sugared ring donuts. They came from Tescos and are a week old. They are stale but fine (if you see what I mean) Can I make some kind of pudding? I have some fresh fruit(pineapple, pears, and apples)Tinned pineapple, variou dried stuff rasins etc, glace cherries. I also have a pack of instant custard and a pack of rum flavoured sauce(7p tescos) I dont want to make real custard as I am desperatly trying to save the milk.Is there anything I could make as I am making loads of soups etc to make our money go further and to use up stuff. I thought a pudding may make things a little bit brighter and obviously I don't want to throw ANYTHING out if I can help it. Any ideas please. Many many thanks.

They'd make a fab bread and butter type pud. Slice up, mix with some fruit and pour over custard and bake.
Or you could try reviving them by sprinkling with water, wrapping in foil and warming in the oven.0 -
add more sugar on to it and put it into the mircowave and heat them up for 10 secs and woola..!!

I know this isn't what you meant but I ate really stale doughnuts once (they were *very* reduced) and it put me off them for about a year afterwards - really helped me to lose weight! That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0

you can "freshen" them up by a few mins in the micro but they need to be eaten straight away then!;)Do what you love :happyhear0

Just want to say a huge thank you to verybody that responded. I used 3 of them in a kind of bread and butter pud. I soakec some dried fruits in hot water with a couple of drops of vanilla and a(tiny) drop of cherry brandy. put the donuts in a pyrex, poured the liquid over them shoved in the fruit mixture, then made a pack of instant custard put that over in, grated some nutmeg on the top and shoved it in hte oven. It was very sweet but nice. We don't normally have puddings on "normal days" but I couldn't face throwing anything out at the moment with the money situation being so bad. So feel very "good" and VERY "DFW".So again, THANK YOU.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
