If you want a laugh, just read this...my son has sent me instructions on how to turn on his telly, he has a home cinema in a proper cinema room ,it's ginormous,....and a large plasma in his sitting room.....I also asked for instructions on how to use his Aga, he has just had it converted to electricity , it was oil fired before, so it was always on...read this , then think of me....most of you know I am of a certain age and my son insists these instructions are really clear............he phoned me from the airport this afternoon and said he hoped I enjoyed having my feet up watching the telly on the BIG screen...I told him I would more than likely be having a lie down in a dark room after trying to turn it on....
Hi Mum,
The Aga comes on for breakfast and on for dinner. There is a thermostat control in the kitchen but best to leave it as it.
Cinema - my iPad 1 (in the red case) is the remote control device for the cinema and the living room plasma. In the bottom left hand side of the home screen is a purple icon for an App called "Mobile Pro G" - this is the app which connects to the cinema control device.
Boot this app and it will automatically connect, you have to wait a bit whilst it does 'updating' - it connects to the net and gets the weather news and temperature.
Then it displays a clumsy looking touch version of the sky remote. But you can also just use the normal Sky remote whilst in that room as the box is behind the sofa. Volume is on there and channel up and down is on the right hand side.
At the bottom of the App is a list of different devices - if you want to watch a DVD or Blu-Ray - just press 'Blu-Ray' - the channel and audio will switch and it will turn the BD player on.
To stop watching and go to bed, press the right arrow at the bottom to scroll the page of devices and press 'Room Off' this will shut the room down and leave everything in standby.
There is also a button called 'Rooms' - you can push that and select either 'cinema' or 'living room'
The default setting is cinema. Push 'Sky HD' and the cinema will fire up and get ready - you will hear the dust cover automatically sliding off the front of the projector. It takes a few seconds to get a picture as the unit starts up.
To only watch TV in the living room - just turn the Sky box on with the remote and turn the Lumagen scaler on with the scaler remote.
Then go into the living room, boot the App, then press Rooms and then select living room. Turn on the Plasma and it should all work.
Occasionally, it will get confused and you can have picture and no sound in the lounge, to resolve this, switching the sky box on and off, then switching the scaler off and on and then switching inputs on the scaler a few times - from 1 to 2 and back again should switch it.
If you're using the projector, make sure you're watching for at least 1 hour. It does it no good turning the thing on or off the whole time. It's best to start it and leave it on.
The room is professionally built and it's well worth watching something like 'Quantum of Solace' on Blu-Ray with the sound cranked up. A volume of at least 61 or 71 is best. The surround is almost terrifying. Also worth a spin is the Les Miserables concert - best do it in two part as it is three hours. You can watch with the curtains open, but it ruins the overall contrast so best close the curtains.
Please be extra careful with the footstool/projector box. It needs to stay in the same position so please don't knock it or bump it out of alignment. If you want to light the stove to take the edge off the room, then three logs should do it. Use a load of paper at the start with the vent fully unscrewed. Then get some logs on and screw in halfway. Be warned though, you might end up sweating with the room red hot and the door open.
It is a 3D projector and I do have Avatar in 3D but it needs a special setting and a new cable - so don't watch it and save it for next time.
If the picture is ever slightly shunted to the right leaving a small space down the left hand side of the screen, make sure you press MEMA button on the Lumagen remote.
Beeb One and Sky HD should be perfect - but they will be wrong if Memory Bank B or MEMB is selected.
I just noticed it being off on Sky HD even on MEM A but that was because they were taking a feed from Fox in the USA so their picture is a bit off.
One of the standout HD shows is An Idiot Abroad 2 - it looks amazing - as does anything on Japanese News Channel NHK HD....
Make sure you watch Les Mis though - simply incredible
Just press Blu-Ray on the Crestron App, -it will switch to a black screen with Oppo on there (the maker of the BD player) - then open the disc tray manually on the BD player.
The BD player is multi region so will play ANY BD or DVD disc. I have left out some of the best ones for you. The room is acoustically treated so make you crank the volume up.
You will be astounded at how good the singing is in the Les Mis concert. Way better than paying to watch it.0 -

Any suggestions welcome or can we now join in with the guys on here?Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x
