Best LCD TV 37 to 40''

Hi
I've tried to search for this but it's not showing anything. Can anyone direct me to (or tell me) which is the best LCD or plasma TV 37 to 40'' ish HD ready (of course) for about £1000 to £1500. We've always had Toshibas in the past and the one we've got now is 10 years old and going strong (and cost £1k then!!) I've seen the 37'' Tosh on the grabbit board but is there anything better out there? (I am also wondering about buying from John Lewis because of the 5 year warranty)
Any help very gratefully received
Techno xx

Can you give more details on what sort of connections your looking for, what will your TV be connected to, etc?

Are you looking for a 720p TV or would you prefer 1080p?

i know theres always something arround the corner and its tempting to wait but seriously sed and oled tvs are due out in 9-10 months and even lcd refresh rates are due to double up to 120hz by the end of the year not to mention the prices are in complete freefall.

if i were you i would either hang fire or do what i did and pick up a cheep rear projector. i got a 44" sony for 280 quid from someone upgradeing and in the past 3 months any tv i was going to buy will have droped by over that meaning not only will i save money when a 1080p sed comes out but have a free 44" hidef and quality tv
  • if you want to get one now then worth looking for a good deal on a sony w series or the new sharp

both are 1080p and about as future proof as you can get today in those sizes!

As you can probably tell my user name is Techno because I'm definitely technologically incompetent!! I really don't know what the difference is between the letters after the 1080 (this is the best available at the moment?)
We really want to be future proofed but as I said the old toshy telly is working fine so don't need one immediately but need to know what's good so when I spot a bargain I can pounce on it!
    Many thanks for your replies
