Building Surveyors East Belfast

Hi all

We need a home survey done on a property and are looking for a good chartered surveyor.

We have been quoted £360 by a couple and told this is the going rate.

Can anyone give me any recommendations in East Belfast and a rough idea of how much this should cost?

Thanks

I'm a surveyor although I don't really operate in your area. I would need more information to make a guess at a fair quotation, but most surveyors will charge what you've been quoted for 1 day. I would quote marginally less, being 'out in the sticks' I'd probably quote £330 to £350 for a full days surveying....bearing in mind that some of that day is spent doing the survey work and the rest of that day is spent doing the associated computer work back at the office.

People tend to forget the time it takes to get to a property and back and then the time needed to compile the report. Also with all professionals they tend to forget the overheads. In my business overheads are about 40% of what I bring in.

By the way check if they are VAT registered, and if so if the VAT is included!

We got our mortgage from Santander and they used http://www.esurv.co.uk/ for their survey. We then used them for a Homebuyers survey and they were very thorough. Our surveyor was a different guy then the Santander survey one and both were local and very thorough. We had the email copy of the survey the next day and the hard copy in the post a day later, very happy with it. Cost about £270 I think but allegedly there was discount for using them as they were Santander's surveyor too.
