I do one online shop each month, usually around £100 where i order tins, bottles, cartons, toiletries and any household stuff because pushing a trolley weighed down with tins plus a baby and toddler is not my idea of fun (although a good workout!).
Then I take £50 per week out of the cash machine and use this at the market and Asda/Tesco/Lidl for fruit, veg, milk, eggs, bread, meat and fish plus any extras we need. Included in this is £5 per week on an Asda xmas savings card.
This is for 5 of us - me, DH, DD10, DS3 and DD1

I live on my own and do a big monthly shop via Sainsburys Online. I then just shop as I go along. I HATE shopping!0

I shop online as I don't live near a supermarket. Anyway, OH and I argue so much when we go, bickering over veggies:D
When I move house soon, I'll probably go to the shops ON MY OWN as I'll be closer to the shops.0 -
I tend to shop weekly or when i run out of things, however i do bulk buy good offers and free them, the same with whoospies and i do the odd approved foods order aswell.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I generally do a monthly shop from Ocado using a £15off £75 spend (also utilise all offers) and buy all meat, poultry, fish, cheddar, frozen from there, then weekly top ups from either Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl or Tesco spending £10-£15 per week on fruit, veg, yogurts, tinned items, eggs, butter, milk, bread, cottage cheese etc. Then poundland monthly for bin bags, sandwich bags, kitchen rolls, loo rolls (when run out of deals from Amazon or AF), polish, cleaning spray, crisps, biscuits, ambrosia pots x 4 x 4, latex gloves for medical stuff, sugar x 2 etc...usually spend £20 or less. Total all in all about £150To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0

Personally, I do a weekly shop and then only in dire emergency would I go into a shop for anything else (although I do sometimes browse for whoopsies if I'm out and about at the right time of day). I think that shopping as you go is all very well provided your will-power is strong. I read too often on here about people who go out for a pint of milk and spend £20 or more!0

I would be well happy if it was only a £20!!!0

I shop as I go along and probably go in a supermarket at least 4 days on an average week. Often it's lidl just to pick up a couple of bits. I yellow sticker hunt and meal plan mainly around what I've already got. This is for me and my partner and some weeks I will spend about a fiver and some weeks it will be up to £20. I do eat out once a week though or I will do a slightly more expensive shop in Sainsburys and buy a few more fancy ingredients to cook for a friend or a special meal for my bf. Also I do treat myself to the odd organic veg box.
I know if/when I have kiddies there is no way I would carry this on and would do an online shop with the odd yellow sticker if i'm out at the right time.Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0 -
I was thinking about this tonight. I did a small shop on Monday but am nearly out of fruit now. We ate the chicken and there was none in the freezer so I went to Co-op to get some. I wonder if it might be better for fresh stuff - less waste? I buy salad with good intentions but that usually goes in the bin, at least some of it anyway. I think I might do one big shop online next month then pick up a few bits as I go along and see how it goes. Will have to resist the temptation to pick up unnecessary extras though.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I mealplan and do a 'big' shop once a week - I've found that's what works for me as it stops me doing those 'little' shops that cost so much. I do tend to do a small bread, milk and fruit shop on a Friday evening to last the weekend, but otherwise that's it.0
