No disrespect to the OP and purely out of interest, in order for Asda to sell suits at £19 what are they paying the suppliers in Bangladesh or China?

Whatever the going rate is I would presume.

And before everyone shoots me down. I don't necessarily agree with the wages paid, but unless we know the economic state etc of the country we can't compare our wages with another. It may be a very small wage to earn to us but that could be the difference between food on the table or not. If the amount being paid wasn't competitive with other employees or it wasn't the 'norm' in that country then they wouldn't work for the company.

Back on topic. One of the presenters on GMTV had the suit on this morning. He said it's usually £19.99 + £6.00 so only available at this price this week. Obviously not brilliant quality was the general view but for someone who doesn't usually wear suits but has a funeral/wedding/job interview to go to it would be ideal
Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves

At least ASDA pass on the saving to their customer.

How many brands use the same cheap labour simply to boost their profit margin.
  • bought a suit today from burton of much better quality for only 30 pounds, the jacket was 20 pounds and the trousers were only a tenner, well worth it

Not a lot I assume, as the average monthly wage is around £50-100 mark in china but the cost of living is significantly lower when compared to the UK.
