Tesco in Wales and your "Green" bags

I'm sure by now you know what I mean,
Most of you I assume will have bought one of the Tesco Bag for life (The blue plastic things).
But in Wales, thanks to the assembly now charging for every bag used you no-longer get points for re-using your bags (the so-called green clubcard points).
However, this is where the fun bit comes in, on my bags they each state clearly that I can earn 2/3points per use (depending on bag size used) meaning that Tesco have suddenly brought them selfs into a very sticky situation thanks to certain acts, the names of which allude me right now.
Basically, Their own bags advertise a reward for using them, and as a condition of the sale Tesco are legally obliged to continue that service regardless of the A$$embly Government demanding money for using a bio-degradeable single use (if your lucky) bag.
Has anyone considered demanding that Tesco meet their contractual obligations to Wales?

Tesco are probably using their excess bags they have left over, this may explain why they are using the bags that advertise a reward for using them. Doesn't mean they'll give you anything in return for using them though.
Tesco (or other supermarkets for that matter) giving points does appear that it wasn't an incentive for people to reuse plastic shopping bags anyway, and explains why authorities are forcing supermarkets to charge their customers for using bags. After all, money talks.
It does appear unfair though they don't have to give anything in return if they don't want, they can change their terms at any time subject to whatever reason they give. I'm sure if you check their terms and conditions you'll most likely see something like this as it covers them for circumstances such as these.
I'm sure there are many other ways other than reusing your bags to accumulate Clubcard points, there is after all plenty of information on how to do this on this website.
Anyway, why not buy a good sturdy bag (or two) and bring that with you every time you go shopping? Problem solved!

If I re-use bags in Scotland, Ireland or England I get green points - but not in Wales.
Tesco are treating 'green' shoppers in Wales differently to the rest of the UK.
When I challenged this I was told:
""We introduced Green Clubcard points to encourage the re-use of bags. Now that the Welsh Assembly Government has introduced its own charging policy, we want to get fully behind that approach in Wales. We believe that continuing an alternative approach at the same time as introducing a charge would be confusing for our customers."
In other words, they think we are too thick to notice. Sainsbury's still give Nectar points for bag re-use.

You make a good point about Sainsbury's but are two Clubcard points (1p each) worth more than the environment you live in?
You could probably save more on the frequent offers they have than what it took to save the points Tesco used to offer.0
