i do have a good friend who as long as i cook provides me with food. my daughter is a university student and i am lucky she can support herself with help from the grants etc.

my plan of action just to stay afloat and keep my house is to take in a lodger as i have three bedrooms. little one is spare att.

I can remorgage my house in jun 07 if i wish to. Hopefully to a better rate and i'm hopeing to swallow up that bloody stupid loan i took out with ge money that i will not be free of till 2080(how does that work out I'l be dead before then)

I think i must qualify for the award for the most stupid member on this site

nah mate, you're not stupid, your dealing with the issue. From what you have written, it should ease up some in March but I seriously suggest going to CCCS or payplan and getting them to contact your creditors and sort this out some. I dont see how spending the rest of your life paying this off will be worth it!?!

Don't be daft, we've all made mistakes but at least you faced up to it. Even with things easing up in March I think you'd best get yourself off to CCCS or payplan.

I think the first port of call is to flog whatever you can, hopefully this will raise enough money to pay a debt or two off and bring you back in the black with your monthly cashflow statement.

I think lodger is a good idea, also have you looked at other ways to earn a little extra income, or indeed are you able to get a better paid job?

I know shes at uni, but can your daughter provide some money for board etc every month?

Also you haven't mentioned transport :(

  • You're not at all stupid. Debt is so easy to get into these days, before you know it you're in deep. At least you're facing it and trying to do something about it. I haven't been on this forum long but there are some very knowledgeable people here, and everyone supports each other.

hoping for £300 have just put it on internet free for 28 days
house is worth about 185,000.00. i have thought about selling it but i'm not sure i would be better off after all the fees of buying and selling and ending up in one bed place with daughter on sofa. my heart just sinks. i do have a car again a good friend paid for insurance last year and still puts a little petrol in it now and then. but i will be cycling to work in march for sure. i do have a bike already. daughter not in position to lend a hand she has only just really started listening when i say i have no money.

  • aww big hugs both of you...we've all been foolish which is why we're all here supporting each other put of debt...you wont be the first and you wont be the last so try & move on from the feelings f regret & see the positives - you've had your LB moments and are moving on but I would suggest that both of you (Alex & Rockefeller) contact CCCS or payplan for advice as from your situations look like you need to get some help sorting things. Not trying to scare you at all but the maths dont add up do they and its better to get help now than months down the line when things are worse because you do need to eat dont you.
My heart goes out to you both but as lots of people here will testify to once you've done the sorting and sought help the relief is immense but its hard & scary to take that step isnt it. You've nothing to loose so just go for it! Onwards & upwards my friends and remember, we're all here for you on the road ahead to becoming debt free!
Big squidgy hugs for you both and no more of the stupid contest! Being stupid would have been not to face up to it & you've done that which takes a lot of guts!

i dont have anything to sell. been single mum for 10 years now. did a car boot last year and did get £75. have just put ad on free site for 28 days have to cancel it then. cross fingers for me. daughter has only just realised how bad it is for me she has taken on the internet and phone bill.(she uses these mostly so thought that was fair) do have car up until march cannot afford insurance or tax when they are due then. it is an old R reg corsa which if have lovenly handpainted so noone else would want it. i work irregular shifts otherwise would definately have second job by now.
